Ideally biting behaviour should be discouraged when your dog was a puppy. Usually dogs use their mouth like little children, to taste everything. Biting problems can occur when you play tag of war with your dog or when you try to remove their favourite toys from them. Once a dog learns that you are afraid of biting, it can use it to establish dominance over you. A good strategy in this situation would be to offer an exchange, namely you offer a snack in return to dog giving up their favourite toy or an object. However, note that if your dog is full, it might ignore your offers. Your dog needs to be trained before meals. Please don’t forget to use healthy treats.
